top notch!
few contenders for disasters (911, tsunami, hurricanes and china quakes) of the decade. Avatar being the "most expensive movie" of the year/decade/ever. GTA:chinatown wars winning 2 platforms according to a popular gaming site. VW polo = car of the year? ok.
being a gamer, here's my top 5 games of the decade.
5th: world of warcraft
the game responsible for destroying (or nearly) relationships and families. so addictive that you need to cold turkey this to get out. that is, taking the huge frozen bird, bash the victim out cold and scream some sense before he starts "LFG" against you and whoever he ever cared about.
4th: bejeweled
gotta be the sleeper hit of the decade. millions of players for the minute blitz version. top app in iphone. need to say more? many a night went sleepless because of me and wifey sliding gems furiously on this game. they need a law against something so simple and yet so addictive.
3rd Grand Theft Auto whatever
I have only played about 3 of the series but each of those were like really good. it's essentially the same stuffs but the possibilities, backstory, missions just beckons you over for more digital spanking. it's hard to put down once you pick it up. although now it's officially banned by the wifey, I would still give it 2 thumbs up and therefore a place in this list.
2nd: advance wars series
right before wow came along, I was addicted to the advance wars series. a strategy with a very retro feel. like HOMM of the 90s, it's turn-based and the "just 1 more turn" was really sucking me right into it. but just like HOMM of the 90s, the series went downhill after the 3rd installment.
1st: starcraft
ok I know starcraft was released in 97 but I love the story and action so much that I keep going back to it now and then. sc2 was supposed to be released at the end of 09 but I guess the damned in wow took too much time. its the only game I am going to wait for in the new year and I'm sparing no expenses to build a nice rig just for it.

Christmas!
started with smooth preparations for the dinners with our extended families. the buying of presents was fun and although the dinners and presents resulted in mixed reactions from both sides, it was a good experience nonetheless.
the news of me having successfully completed my studies was a great one because it has dragged on too long and seeing it through seemed impossible. glad its over and don't need to spend any more $ and time on it.
attended cefc service with a word from their senior pastor Edmund Chen. great service and pst Edmund is a good speaker. the word wasn't about how wonderful Jesus was and how Christmas should be celebrated. nor did he attempt to evangelise heavily to the visitors of the church. he laid a foundation for the congregation as individuals
(whoever was listening) to build lives on. although it sounds like a cute little sermon with a 3 bullet points with easy-to-remember abbreviations, this one made sense and motivational. so much that when he ended, some in the congregation actually clapped. really sounded like a $10,000 a night kinda speech rally thing.

"it's a trap!"
amara sanctuary
a relatively new hotel on the island and a darn expensive one. we got it on a good deal at $200++ a night (usual $600+++), for 3 nights. it's not a beach front like rasa sentosa but hey, sentosa isn't all that big. and it's darn near Resorts World, which is due to open early 2010.
rooms are only so-so. we came after the zoukout party weekend and heard from the reception that the engineering and housekeeping are kept busy recovering from the tornado-ic zoukers. we saw some minor damages and things already missing from the hotel rooms. we were offered a room change too because a bedside table lamp at the bottom came off. and so we were upgraded from a deluxe to a premier room just like that. pretty sweet.
I got backaches from sleeping on the bed tho wifey had no complains. TV seemed a little too small and far away from the bed. tub is ok. showers are neurotic. takes a long time to get hot water and it's not constant. not good.
our package was without breakfast and thank God really. at $28++ ppax, the selection is pathetic. you can just travel down to anywhere else on the island, pay $50 and eat till you puke and it's all day menu too. waste of time and money.
luge
it's something like a go-kart except its gravity-powered and the route isn't too bad for the 1st 2 rides. same goes for the skyride. but after that, it just feels too short and so-so. a new route is in the works while we were there and will want to give it a try when it opens. should be fun.
sentosa 4D magix
a complete waste of time and money unless you die die also must try. too expensive and over way too soon especially the interactive shooting thing. the pirates one was the best because they try to make it real enough with jets of air from the chair and sprinklers from the top. the 3D effects was good. but overall just not worth it.
songs of the sea
the one to go to. even if you have been the musical fountain eons ago. it's basically a much upgraded musical fountain and cost $10 ppax and there's a story (albeit cheesy). the effects are excellent especially for 1st timers and watchable even the 2nd or 3rd time. it's not very expensive and it's probably one of the better attractions on sentosa.
underwater world
what's better than watching huge nurse sharks and gigantic grouper fishes and a wide variety of marine life for about $20 ppax? maybe songs of the sea for $10 but nothing much else. last time I went underwater world was around 1998 and don't remember much from then already. good to update myself.
food
what can I say? all marked up for the sake of tourists. nothing fantastic unless you are willing to pay a super premium for good food, which you can get on mainland for lower anyway. but no choice lah, do you really fancy travelling to vivo each time your tummy rumbles? bite the bullet, and chew slowly.
weather
december singapore weather is mostly wet. and for most of the 3 days there, it was raining. not heavily but enough to dampen the beach mood. better to go at another "season".
overall
well it's definitely a tourist trap. it's just too marked up for locals and don't have much a choice right there. don't think I will seriously visit again other than for the IR, the new luge track or maybe songs of the sea again.
what happened
change of year
changed job. learning totally new stuffs and found myself doing things I never thought would ever do. tho there were a fair share of griefs from it but it was mostly fun and certainly very enriching. nine out of ten.
toy of the year
I jumped to the iphone boat in sept and was even given a "welcome aboard." by the sails (sales) guy. it's basically a device that tries to be everything. but with a limit on size and controls, it's everything you really can't. sure you can say there are hundreds and thousands of amazing apps to be downloaded. but of those most are simply not amazing and a lot of them are even a waste of time/money/bandwidth. I do miss the E71. but bejewelling with the wifey on the iphone been much fun. won't deny that. six out of ten.
marriage
well let's see. wakeboarding (march) which was semi-fun. club med bali (june) which was good experience. chilling out (whole year round) in front of TV. all these did lots of good for our marriage, discovering each other (she can wakeboard better, I like golf and both of us enjoy thrillers and crime shows). been a great year for our relationship. perfect ten!
studies
at about a quarter into the year, saw the opportunity to complete the studies by year end. and honestly, I almost didn't think I could but I did. tho results are still pending but after the final exams, I think its a given and just a matter of by how much. this is probably one of my greatest milestones for 09 and my life. thank God. now I can go round telling people I know what raid 5 or byte extend means. eleventeen out of ten.
spiritual health
after a year and still mucking along the long smorgasbord of spiritual gym that is called the church. can't help but wonder if this wilderness has an end. not good but probably necessary. God help! my iphone can't GPS my spiritual life out of this mess! three out of ten.
physical health
yeah yeah my huge bug bear. I wish I can zap my lumps away with my iphone. sure there are like thousands of keep fit shape up apps but what good it does if I don't follow? I can print it out and highlight them goals with my pink hello kitty highlighter. FAT lot of good it does. one out of ten.
so in 2010? a few things to look forward to.
self-improvement
thinking of learning malay and/or something else from a CC course. it be good to know a language altho the main concern is I won't be able to use it as often as I would like to.
self-gratification
don't think I would indulge myself in a new toy unless a really kick ass phone comes along. (nokia are u listening?) 2 major things I'm looking forward to is get back to scuba again and play starcraft 2! can't wait for it to be released already! (blizzard are u listening?)
others but not least
do my spiritual and physical exercises more. and really finally settling in a church.
so yeah, it's almost the same story different year really. but this year I'm putting way more focus on spiritual and physical. I'm mid way 30s and I think it's about time. don't want to sink 6 feet under before it's too late.
happy new year!

"I am not good enough to go Heaven."
so does that mean we can just go about our lives saying yes to temptations occasionally, so long as we attend church on sunday and repent like we think we mean it when we are about to die?
even a day pass to disneyland cost something. stop cheapening the Grace shown to you.
a weight off
looking very forward to doing some other productive stuffs. like gaming and gaming and gaming until my eyes pop.

what the KNNBCCB FUCK?
"HELP!! This psycho wants my money and virginity!!!!"
Actual:
"hey how come I increase 500 here would end up 700 more at your side? how did you arrive with the figures? isn't the formula linear?"
"hey that's my rice bowl man. no way I'm telling you but take them as they are."
you know what? keep your fucking bowl. I have finer wares.

Testing 1, 2, 3. Examinations need a reality check.
Answer? 68.
2 things to highlight here.
1) Ken & Jim are rich! I can't imagine myself having enough to buy 68 sweets, back then.
2) Diabetes & Headache.
sure I can solve this algebraically and/or with diagrams without the pressure of time. but in an examination room setting, the clock is ticking and it probably doesn't help that the snorings from the napping invigilator are in the rhythm of Sun Ho's aka Lady-Gaga-Wannabe dance hits. enough to give an ex-CHCer a headache.
maybe they should change the "story" in the question to something more .... "everyday".
Jim has a mobile plan with 250 sms free per month. Ken has a mobile plan with 300 mins free per month. Jim let Ken send half of the sms and Ken let Jim call a chatline for 45 mins. how much would the telcomm overcharge Ken for the usage? or for that matter, what would Ken's mum say?
"no more chocolates for you!"

iLike
1) phone functions. nothing to shout about, yet. with my previous phone the volume and controls were adequate. I could hear the other side loud enough without going full volume. but with the iphone I turn it on 100% most of the time. kinda no room left for adjustments when in areas with loud ambient noise, or when my hearing starts to go.
2) input. took a bit of getting used to but ok now even for fingers and thumbs like mine.
3) music. ipod in an iphone. need to say more?
4) other functions. thousands of games and apps waiting to be downloaded at a low fee (nah. jailbreaks are for jailbirds). including a very fav early 90s classic remake Secret of the Monkey Island for a price of USD$8! I remember the game went for SGD$80 and it was in an amazing EGA 16 colours.
final verdict? I am liking the new phone-casual gaming device-music player-whatever else but I do sometime wish its just a phone and leave those everything else to everything else. kinda a "jack of trades but master of none".

"welcome aboard!"
after resisting it for about a year, I finally joined the crowd and "went aboard" the iphone boat.
almost thought I couldn't get it coz I can't recontract for another month but the manager of the store was kind enough to let an idesperado recontract.
I guess this is going to be my last toy for the year but I'm a happy man! until the next generation iphone comes out that is.

foreigners in singapore, miss singapore world and andy lau
in the last few years, there had been a surge of foreigners in every area possible in singapore. schools, service sectors, construction sectors, cleaning sectors, singaporeans-won’t-do sectors, you name it and they are there by the truckloads. suddenly people fear for the safety of their properties and self. they say they are dangerous and raises crime rate in Singapore.
even more attention was on their ability to speak english. and I wonder why because most singaporeans can’t speak english anyway. what we have is called singlish which is a melayu-hokkien-mandarin-english hybrid. something our own SPGs, or potato-eaters or bananas won’t and refuse to understand either anyway.
still don’t believe that singaporeans can’t speak english? try googling miss singapore world 2009. yes google, not oogle at her “bigini” win at the pageant. and thank God there wasn’t a shot of her in lehperd preen and dark jins. or rad colour. or whatever that shouts her (which probably goes “can’t public speak”). but I’m sure she’ll be good in horsepitality.
not all beauty queens have it bad. there is one ex-queen who recently got the attention of the asian world. ms chu lay keng, wife of cantopop heavenly king andy lau, finally got the status and recognition she deserves. after more than 2 decades, andy lau came out in the open of the relationship even if he has not yet verbally or literally admitted to it. and so far no reports yet of mass hysteria among fans although there are at least 1 bitterness already. on the whole, the now-more-mature fans are either giving them the blessings, or chiding him for denying it for so long but blessing them anyway.

Teacher's Day
obviously not all of them are bad, just most. there are good ones like the one during that time who did that something where I was there, but totally forgot.
and of course, there’s my darling wife who is a teacher in St James Church Kindergarten. I wish I’m 5 years old again so that I can be in her class and buy her an apple on Teachers’ Day!

that's soooo sweet!
Tuesday, 21 July 2009
my mate and I ...
... shared an afternoon nap to drown the "badness" from work.
... shared horror dreams (though not the same one, scandalous and gory respectively) in our sleep.
... shared a plain dinner of fried rice and hor fun.
... blasted Christian music from the speakers to end the "horrific" day!

why?
starting to feel like I'm trapped in a constant routine that won't ever seem to stop. or maybe that's how life is.
kinda feel like stopping and give it up for a bit. but no. God no like quitters.

I wish for ...
guess not. but if there's 1 thing I can ask for, it would be the world to stop long enough today for me to drop my work and just chill.
but alas no. the more I wish for that, the faster the world around me spins. work won't end. chaos and famine will always be there like its a necessity in this world. I can easily listen to elvis and jacko's over the radio or mp3. wii? no time and no money.
maybe I'll just forget about work for a bit and enjoy myself while I still can. just have to work harder after that. and I can tell people my wish came almost true!

toothpaste compatible?
recently during a small gathering to ga ga over a newborn, a question of "did you have problems with toothpaste in your relationship?" was thrown in the air and around.
so this urban legend goes where there are apparently (more than you can imagine) couples who have issues with how a toothpaste tube should be squeezed.
us? we have no problems with that. but of course I do know of at least 1 couple who does. my parents.
my dad would use a toothpaste tube to about slightly over half of it and at which point, decides that it's empty enough to change to a new one. his reasoning is toothpaste is too cheap for him to, spend 5 seconds extra in the morning squeezing the last bits of it.
so for pretty much most of my life, if I do brush my teeth, I was squeezing toothpaste out of a used tube. and I don't have a problem with that either.
there are more important issues like "are we tv channels compatible?".

a year on
not a week goes by without me being reminded of it at least once. sometimes it affects me so much that my blood starts to bubble. sometimes it just seems to surreal. not sure which is a dream. shows how much surprises life can pop on you.
the only stability in this "'this minute hot next minute cold" world, is God. the one who created this world as written in the Christian bible.
God, I love You. please don't see my "not doing personal devotions" as disrespectful. oh wait, I guess it is. but I love You anyway.

a night at the USS Enterprise
1) A Night at the Museum. egyptian tablet that would make museum exhibits come to life at night. we should have such a tablet in our Mint Museum for Toys. I would kill to be a night guard there. dreams aside, the movie isn't all too bad to sit through. (6.5 out of 10)
2) Star Trek. "Have you watched Star Trek? OMG you should! its like the mostest best star trek movie so far!" and so we did. I must say that although I was never a fan of spock, beam-me-ups or klingons, the movie is a good one. you have to be out of your vulcan mind to miss this one. (8.5 out of 10, +1 if u are a geek)

life as it is
now, I'm working for a food manufacturing company solely owned by my father-in-law. and my duties? pretty much anything that need help with. I'm not governed by time and it is an increase in pay compared to my previous job. workload still bearable but on the roads a lot more and constantly having things to do 7 days a week.
life is ok as it is. I'm learning another part of LIFE from exposure to the business and the customers. human relations can be a tricky thing. especially when singaporeans can be quite the bastards.
for now, I'll have learn to control my emotions. and to buck up on my spiritual life.

to car or not to car
2) an investment that only depreciates. more than $3k a year!
1) convenience. easier to zip to and fro places.
2) more and more becoming a necessity. work calls for it.
God, I really do need Your guidance in this as I really don't know what to do.

making an S of oneself
the name of the show? S factor. some people decided to play on the name saying that S stands for Stupid, Smart, Super, Showy, Slutty, et ce and te ra, while avoiding the most obvious of all, Sexy. and then went on to say that there are many real women out there with real sexiness, hiding underneath jackets, blouse, bras and cleavage-enchancing pads. inner beauty. the heroines of society, the policewomen, nurses, and whatever profession you can think of with women in it.
what is the point of the show? and what do the viewers expect from this kinda reality shows? and what of these people who bother to even finish the entire length of edited reality? 42-inch high-definition bimbos-in-bikinis. good way to settle your sunday night jitters.
its just like asking what is the point of having for-male magazines. to promote the very basic meaning of sexiness. to tell all hot blooded males that this girl, with enough digital enhancements, look this good wearing very little.
most of all, to make $$$. for the producers of the show, s = s**tload of money.
for the general viewers of the show, it can be fun to see how deluded some girls can be.
and to those who stayed the entire 30 mins and wrote negatively critical letters after , do something else like watching nail polish dry. stop making an S of yourself.

how I wonder
I wonder why. the nomination itself is flawed because in the past years, many buzz had been generated over the nominations because undeserving stars had been nominated and actually won the award.
it has become (imo) just a show to tell viewers and fans, yes we have so and so in our stable of pretty looking brainless muppets who look more real in 2D (mags and newspapers) than animated (TV, youtube and whatever else).
this year's show features nomination mostly from the very very hugely immensely popular little nonya TV series which featured some eye candies, nevermind the fact that it was in a very channel 8 mandarin, the very language the people portrayed couldn't speak.
I myself watched perhaps 15 mins of the last episode of the TV series. that shows how popular the series were. I don't watch local dramas anymore, even if they are going to feature more chio-bus-in-bikinis running along orchard road. for the record, I missed that episode because I had to kill a level 5 elite on world of warcraft. still don't regret that decision.
as for Pat Mok, the news report went on to say that although she was (prolly still is) bitter about it, she's totally hooked on the show and also who she 'supports' in there. I say, forget it and continue to do your best in the local showbiz. its tougher when you don't look like Karen Mok, but good job.

last
I haven't been in the company long enough to miss anything of significant really. in fact, I haven't even thought about what I would miss or not miss in TECH, which explains the pause before my reply to wifey's question.
I thoroughly enjoyed my fulfulling days of leave and although I was totally tired out from running erands etc, I felt good. I felt useful and my contributions were appreciated. in TECH? you have to be somebody before anyone would care or even know your existance. I guess I'm not someone who is there enough to suck up to old farts (management).
still I want to wish the best for TECH and the industry as a whole. without them, we won't get expensive iPods and iPhones and what have you that requires the '1's and '0's.

my favourite shirt
so I wore this shirt to celebrate my wife's birthday. and we went to a hotel restaurant in terminal 3. so we were seated at a table for 2 where we were surrounded by tables for 5-12 people. so obviously there would be groups of 5s and 12s coming for dinner.
then about 30-40 mins into our dinner, the groups came. I was just walking towards my seat when some of the people from the groups were looking at me with a "do I know this fat guy" look. I'm totally puzzled. was it because I look good in my tee? or was it coz of the plate of roast pork loin (my absolute fav from this buffet btw) I was carrying?
as I sat down, wifey begin to tell me that she thinks the waitresses might have seated us in a "wrong" place. then a waitress came over to ask me "are you with the Timberland group?".
huh? okay.... so there's a Timberland group and we are seated right in the midst of them? lawl.
true enough, the people seated around us were wearing timberland tops, didn't notice if the pants, shoes or even underpants were.
If not for the fact that I have a body to die for (by that I mean other people would die from laughter after looking at my flab-ulous body), I would rip my shirt off and try to forget about the incident.
not that its a really embarassing situation but what are the odds? going to T3, to an expensive buffet, seated in the middle of a same-tee group, on a tuesday night.
but well, at least I would remember this for a long time to come. no thanks to blogs.
so it's really happening
so far no rest for me coz it being my darlin's birthday, the end of the month paperwork and some of the need-me-to-do stuffs.
looking forward to work from home and finally do some of the things I really want to do like sincere spiritual quiet time with God.
Thank You God.

accounting love
recently had a flashback of things between myself and my other half-royalness. we had an ok pre-marriage relationship. and after marriage, things took a turn towards $$ and everything related. and in our case, our love for each other could be formulated to
love = $$ / both of us
the more $$ we had the more love we'll have for each other. so once $$ = 0, love = 0.
I believe much is so for a lot of people too and I would imagine this financial tsunami have uncovered a lot of these "love for $$" relationships, not just the sub-prime or Madoff.
but ever since both of us decided to turn towards God, our relationship not only improved drastically, our accounts are starting to be harder to balance too!
love = God X both of us.
we use to want to fight over whether we should pamper ourselves once a week or not. now we fight to pamper each other. just last week, my royalness agreed to go out with me to my fav jap eatery. and just last night, she allowed me to spend on a new electronic gadget! thank God for IT shows and a generous wife!
I just want it on record that I am certainly grateful for what has God and His Word has done for us and I really appreciate and love my wife Joanna very much.

exit
back to the topic. some people say exit interviews are the time to bash. be it personal or aiming to give constructive criticism hoping that the receiving end would take it positivelty and improve from it.
"since I'm not going to be working there anymore or since I'm not going to see so and so anymore, why should I give it/him/her/them face?"
"he/she/it/them are the most bitchiest-est being/bunch I have ever come across! hey come on, I admit I take like a pen a month from the company stationary store but them? they take a ream of presentation grade 120gsm paper home every day! they are friends with the security and their dogs! me? I can't even bear to take the coffee stirrer from the pantry! but don't thank me really. even though I totally deserve it."
actually I do wish I can do that though I really didn't. but I don't want to leave on a bad note. that being said, if not for the fact that the other side is more attractive, I wouldn't leave too. not especially when the world is in recession and what with every tom dick and david stabbing every one else just coz they hit a bump on the road of life.
peace.

jitters
not sure why but maybe it's coz I don't know what to expect at work. I wished my "highly competent" colleague would have been able to cover some of the things but I don't think so. my work phone had been full of life with smses indicating "problems" already.
maybe it's the interview I'm about the be having with the HR personnel regarding my termination of service with the company. don't know what kinda questions to expect.
or maybe it's just me.

disaster
I was given 2 days to think abt what to do with 3 slabs of perfectly good aussie pork and, I decided to season it in sesame oil with a dash of soy sauce and pan fry the heck out of it. only thing is the heck didn't come out by the time I was done. and I made a mess too what with the oil splattering all over the stove and kitchen floor.
oh and I oven baked some frozen fries we got from the finest supermarket too.
the final result? bland pieces of meat with undercooked fries and loads of rice. good thing we had some chili and barbeque sauce. oh and a good pack of garlic bagel chips from the same finest supermarket. yummy chips! heh
no, I'm not giving up.

free
recently, I continued a subscription to a weekly news magazine. and on top of the usual subscriber's discount ($3 for a vendor $8), I would get a hardcover pictorial book (in colour) on the subject of Global Warming. and one of those shopping bags (not plastic, I hope) which you use in place of plastic ones when you go shopping. both items free with the subscription renewal.
or are they?
it was delivered by our postal service which I feel that should kinda revamp their way of doing things now. 1st, they like to deliver things during office hours. it's ok if anyone was to be at home but what are the chances now that both of us need to work just to be able to have 3 meals a day?
2nd, I requested for a morning delivery but they called at 1pm to tell me that they gonna be late.
totally not worth the aggravations but I will enjoy those things anyway.
not all things in life are free. but God's grace is. so I will be gracious this time around and let it pass. just have to tell myself not to jump at every freebie there is.

recess!
for the last 3-4 months, people have been gushing about the new US president and the First Family and their First Dog and whatever else related. for the few uninterested, it's the transfer news of Kaka which in the end, did not happen. For the even cave-dwelling-oblivious, it's "does this red skirt make me look like a golden ox?".
recession hasn't reached the shore of singapore.
or has it? one person interviewed thinks singapore is not affected, yet. and thinks that the resilience package, aimed at relieving some of the bad effects is announced too early and probably unecessary. didn't know we had caves or had people living in them.
for me, the recession is real. the full wave of it may not have reached singapore yet but its coming. and there are people feeling the brunt of it already even before lehman bros decided that McCain's economic fundamentals are "strong" like the golden ox.
we have been blissfully blessed by God and we don't worry about financial anymore coz we know God is good to us and our NEEDS are met for He is Jehovah Jireh. beyond that, we'll have to work harder.
I know I'm going to tighten my belts and eat less bah kwa this LNY. at $48 a kg, I rather miss the taste than have a 48-inch waist. not about to be as big as an ox.

cereal-slee
I'm very confident to say that I have not eaten cereals in cold milk for years. Not that I don't like cereals or cold milk or the combination but I'm now at the stage of my life where I prefer a hot cup of coffee with singapore-style fried vermicelli + deep fried oily whatever-meat to start my day.
recently we walked pass the cereal aisle and decided that maybe we'll get ourselves a box and some milk to try a never-been-tried cereal. the cereal was left on the shelf for days until my growling tummy decided for me that it's time to open up.
a few spoons into it and ... I decided to ta bao bee hoon and kopi.
but hey, at least you won't worry about it turning cold. just soggy.

for what democracy and why
in this electronic and capitalism age, living so far away from the thick of the action, I can't help but wonder, why?
nations and their leaders and people talk about democracy and less than a year into an election, people decide that the leader-elect is too slow and decide to overthrow him or her, either by walking streets or just overtake an airport grieving fellow bystanders. their rational? "we are asian. western democracy don't work. we need an asian one.".
which means, by any means necessary, get what I want. heck my neighbours.
lol. fat lot of good their temples have done for them. buddhist chant your way out of this mess, ya koks.

where to?
1) perth. we had wonderful memories there and it was about 8 years ago. would be great walking it down again.
2) phuket. a great place to beach around. our honeymoon destination with lotsa good memories.
3) hong kong. she's been and I'm dying to try fermented tofu. everyone else and their grannies, and their dog been there. maybe I should too.
4) taiwan. land of eats and hot springs cheaper than japan. and they understand mandarin. good exchange rate too.
5) korea. erm... everyone else and their grannies, and their dog been there. so maybe I shouldn't bother.
6) maldives. oh yeah. the place to go before they sink into the ocean what with global warming melting the polars. but kinda out of the budget.
7) any european countries. $$$. recession or not, its the asian countries who are trying to attract the westerns and mediterraneans over for a holiday, not the other way round. out of our budget by a jaw-drop size margin.
or maybe I should just hog the money and plan a great Christmas party this year.
