failed plans, didn't attend play, didn't attend church and caught a flu pretty much the whole weekend.
best thing I would say is the wonderful presents which wifey got for me (bluetooth and coffee maker!) and the tv (mainly csi) marathon we have the whole weekend.
and, we bought sakae starry set for the aws, had sakae dinner for ourselves on xmas evening, and sakae dinner again with the kohs on boxing day evening. a truly sakae christmas.
and here's to perhaps a crappy (crabs?) new year?
cheers!

John C Maxwell loves Peanuts
Charlie Brown peanuts that is, and its an assumption. but where did I get that? from his book "Developing the Leader within You".
with over a million copies sold, its basically a book on "how to be a leader". 10 chapters covering from "self" right down to "staff", the book is littered with quotes, mottoes, slogans and words from famous successful people, and charlie brown in peanuts.
charlie brown and leadership? hardly a connection. yes and like some of the examples inside, they were perhaps necessary to make a point.
although the book is titled "developing the leader within you", is not limited to and exclusive for people who wants to be leaders or is already a leader and wants to be a better one. its also good for people asking, "am I for leadership?".
most people won't know if they can be a leader until thrown into the deep end of the pool and usually with no buoyancy devices. most of the time its too late and will end too sad. I for one discovered that I may not be a natural leader but I have developed some traits over the years that would have been useful. still far off but I'm that much closer.
no cheem words and not specific to cultures, the words and presentation are very applicable. although I don't quite like some of the slogans (just like I don't like ALL slogans), they are catchy and easy to absorb. not thought provoking to a point of heaviness and enough to get you inspired to be a better person, even if not a leader.
so whether you are already in leadership from somewhere or aiming to be one or wondering if you would ever have the chops, this book is definitely for you. even if you don't appreciate charlie brown strips and jokes.

of malacca
famous for its historically rich buildings which have european and asian influences over a few hundred years, melaka is a mishmash of a lot of things words alone cant quite describe. you have buddhist temples surrounding a mosque. the mosque itself (and most of the other buildings) was built with roofs similar to what you would see in china. evidence of cheng ho and his HUGE band of merrymen from the 1400s. then you have farmosa, the fortress built by portugese. and then the christian churches littered all over the place.
of course other than snapping away at these red buildings with your latest digital camera, there are satay celup, nonya food, chicken rice and cendol, not to mention other malaysian fares. and right beside all these, you have modern shopping complexes side by side each other, all offering free wifi.
with so many things to do, its amazing that some ppl would be ok doing a day trip. chicken rice alone we did three times.
singaporeans queue for novelty items like hello kitty dolls and new apple gadgets. in malacca, you queue for lunch. delicious ones.
was it fun? ya it was an eye opener. would we go back? for the food yes. would it be soon? don't quite foresee it happening soon but since its so near and so accessible, who knows. the fishball looking chicken rice beckons.

customer service
can be a pain. but its necessary and not just because john c maxwell said so or even that its good for the business, but more importantly, we as believers are called to love our neighbours as ourselves.
its hard yes but necessary.
on a totally related note, I want to thank the wifey for waking up early and helping out with my work. she is showing her neighbourly love for me and I do appreciate it. and for the record, I was really so distracted that I almost hit a fellow neighbour with charcoal. but wasn't as shaken as wifey would be.
but anyway, thanks dear!

drowning, in the printed word
on this day when muslims of the world celebrate sacrifice, wifey and I decided to sacrifice our cold hard cash to give some books a new home. and where else better than the 'books mecca' in singapore, bras basah.
what started as a casual browse for a html book and stationeries, ended with books, books and books. I did manage to get a html book and some for a mere $20. wifey went home with 9 books and a CD from 2 separate vendors for a total of almost $100.
it is a bit like a kid suddenly having 10 different toys at the same time but don't know which to play with 1st. but well, I guess all of us are suckers for books. especially when they are on bargain prices.
and I didn't get the stationeries.

john smith? sounds fake
was watching a tv drama and there is this guy in the show named John Smith. other guy said that it sounds fake and blah blah blah and of course in the show, the name was indeed "fake", like everything else in the show.
poor john smiths. what other names sound fake? jane doe? charles dickens? what about something more local? what should a name be to be valid and yet "fake"? tan ah kow? ng xiao ping? lee mei mei? susan?
this post is not meant to be an insult to all the persons as abovementioned. just that most people would probably be able to sniff out a fake name or even have a little bit of suspicion. why so uncreative to a point as to name your kid john smith? or if you are john smith, why not use an alias like osama or tony stark?
my point is if you were to really fake a name, would you use tan ah kow or susan in this 21st century? let me recommend "susie smith lee xiao mei". middle names for angmopai-sgreans are fashionable nowadays anyway.
btw john smith has a wiki entry. do you?

20 years
I have been on this earth for 35, and hoping to do another 35, at least. though my lifestyle, food-wise may not see me through that but I fairly confident that it won't be anything else.
last saturday, a life less than 20 years was taken, much to the rage of singaporeans. it was described as a cowardice act and blatant disregard for the law. at the heat of the moment, even cries of victories were heard. cries of a gang which for the most part had been low profile.
then this news. I wonder what's going through the minds of people who knows or love these people? I know for sure most hot blooded singaporeans are baying for blood and some online comments are even eyeing their kidneys and healthy 20 year old organs should they be sentenced with the heaviest punishment known to life.
"why you do this?" "why you so like that?"
"why you no brains?"
bye. this trip to hell, is free.

while its fun especially when out there because the roads are empty, its tiring when one is on the wrong side of 30s. or maybe its just too convenient to blame it on the years when its really me who haven't been keeping myself fit.

great monday
the day started with me wanting to just finish my collection by 11am comfortably and with my dearie at my side the whole ride. I was craving for western at lunch and wanted to go taka and imm to buy some stuffs. then end the day with a nice cup of coffee and do some work. but ...
I started my collection late. my dearie was in bed till 11am. we wanted to eat whatever in orchard but ended up in muthu's curry on racecourse having a delicious fishhead. then we headed to simlim and OG in albert's for the stuffs. came back and slept for 2 hours before me having a teh-o and havent started on work, because I'm now writing this blog post.
great day.

"Hi, I'm from Gliese 581g."
a very close planet orbiting in the goldilocks zone of its sun. meaning it may be habitable to life as we know it here on earth.
of coz the report goes on to say that at this point all are just speculations. doesn't mean that it looks like it can means it has.
it be cool to find out in the foreseeable future if there are similar lifeforms on it as earth. of coz they may not come as higher intelligence beings with model-like limbs and HUGE heads. maybe we would be their higher intelligence.
stories of science fiction writers past have told of aliens moving from planet to planet consuming the resources. perhaps we would be that race to do so.
it's sure both strange and exciting to read about such stuffs while being a creationist believer. conflicting and mind boggling.
edit sunday 8.26pm: non-existent as it turns out. ah well.

to game or not to game
at my own life's fork road of "to game or not to game".
ever since the new PC bought this year, video gaming featured a lot more in my life. and as a result of course, the other aspects in life showed decline, especially spiritual and physical.
lately though, wifey's PC crocked and now running on "life-support". now the questions are:
a) buy a new PC for her at about $900+?
b) give her my PC, use the laptops lying around and game less?
I guess people have to move on. and for me gaming cannot be part of my life positively. the macbook can play games on a limited basis anyway.

actually basically
the penchance of sgreans, other than cutting queues and choping hawker seats with tissue papers.
if one can't tell already from accents peppered with lahs, lors, melayu and hokkien, the overusage of actually and basically will actually and basically tell you which ones are sgreans.
"it's basically rice with chicken meat but actually very nice!"
I have a feeling they were upgraded from "just" and "really" and I wonder WHEN we will start to hear "fundamentally" and "in reality". matter of time.

browsing battle
web browsing that is. I am a chrome fan. not just because I want to support freeware (but I do) or is disgusted at microsoft for even charging OSes and web browsers or what not (which I also am), but it's really a no frills cyberspace speedster.
I am sure you can do all the cool extensions with firefox but for me, I just want to read the sites as quickly as possible and not having to suffer alignment problems just coz some browsers interpret html differently.
today's digital life has an article on which browser is the best. and even name IE, firefox and chrome as the big three. 4 rounds of contest on performance, speed, win7 compatibility and security, with chrome winning 2 of them. does this mean chrome is the best?
I personally feel that it comes down to the user. I like my phones, gadgets and car pretty much the way they are. minimal add-ons and only practical ones. functionality and efficiency are important.
pimp my iphone pink or hack my browser green? do those things make them perform better? no? down the toilet of hellfire they go.
but hey, to each their own. hot pink hatchback car? go ahead! yucks.

so what's next?
pa's hallucination. brother's injured arm. wife's accident. my bittersweet appointment with traffic. yet another and more serious accident.
more to come? God, no please. and I really pray for best of condition for the other party. whatever his name may be.
amen.

tonsi what?
"no, tonsillitis!"
wifey down with it this very 1st week of term 4 and didn't know I had it until my own mum goes, "oh he had it too when he was much younger!".
okie. I hope I won't get it again as it is contagious. tonsillitis? I prefer tons of fried chicken wings.

cucumber
the car spun out of control, from lane 1 to lane 3 of the expressway, coming only to a stop because of the wall. the car was facing the oncoming traffic, and so badly damaged, it can't be moved without a tow truck.
rain kept falling. seconds ticked away like though everything in slomo. a cisco traffic warden, emas, scdf paramedics and a TP dropped by before there were any real progress in the situation.
and all these time, my darling wife who was at the wheel was very cool. didn't kick up a big fuss and was relatively calm. her heart rate and blood pressure logged normal by the paramedics and I on the other hand, was having ragingly high measurements. even the emas guy commented that she was extremely cool as a cucumber about it!
but of course we thank God that we were not injured and no innocent folks were dragged into this.

Perhaps Today
if Jesus comes back today, as promised in Mark 2, where would I stand? with Him? or away from?
where is my life heading?

life
was about scuba diving into illegal depths. was about getting the car up to speed, even on congested singapore roads. was about living like there's no tomorrow. no regards for safety. no qualms about getting into mortal danger. as the saying probably goes, "if you have no done those, you have not lived."
but as a creationist believer, what is life? or living? God created the world. created us. is it about the experience?
about 4 weeks ago, I was given a chance to build an incubator and try to hatch a number of quail eggs. one did and we even gave it a name. Isaac. it wasn't from dust like God did Adam. but we deemed it good too.
chick was cute and it was a wonderful experience for all of us seeing it happen, on top of the sense of achievement. a week later, it died. without an apology or even the return of the lifeless form.
question: were we playing some sort of god? or are we merely facilitators? obviously the latter because God created the process and we just followed through methodically and lo and behold. as fast as it came, it went.
in this world of ours, life is fragile. sure things happen. and sometimes beyond control. but what we have, we ought to cherish. there is a tomorrow. there is a future. not many people may care about whether you make it or not but God does. why else would He waste a day on creating us? he could have taken 2 days of rest.
life. is about being.
you will be missed.

28 more days to go!
starting today, my driver's license will be in the safe hands of the traffic police department.
why? because 24 demerit points not quite enough for me to spend on traffic indiscretions. almost 6 months since the last bookable offence and 1 retraining session later, finding myself out of a valid license and still don't know how to tell my employer aka father-in-law about it.
14th Sept, come quick already! here's to counting down to a day I really look forward to but not quite enjoy doing it. cheers to safety on the roads!

working for that bragging right
whoever thought that putting "achievements" in games is a good idea? was xbox the 1st to start?
in the past, games only had perhaps 3 level of difficulties. easy normal hard. nowadays, on top of just beating the game, some of them have achievements (something like scout badges) where you do certain stuffs certain way in the game, you get a badge of sorts that tells you (or anyone who wants to know) that you have managed to "kill 14 soldiers with their own bullets".
some achievements are downright stupid. some are really challenging. I can understand that its a good way to make players go back to the game more and earn that bragging right. but for some of the perfectionists (with bad hand-eye coordination) this is almost going to be a scar in their gaming life.
"I rescued the princess but I didn't get ALL the 1-ups in the game. I doomed to fail in life!"
sure I'll be happy to try to get most of it. but if it requires anything more than "hold my breath for 10 minutes", then forget it. I can let that one slip. I don't need to "catch 'em all".

driven up the wall
went for the re-training for class 3 in ssdc woodlands, the multi storey driving centre that has a sheltered driving circuit.
have to take the course because of 3 indiscretions on the roads (not to mention a bunch of warnings), resulting in 24 demerits. why the course and what's it about?
because now that I'm liable for 12 weeks of suspension from driving class 3, I may choose to take this 1 day course to get "refreshed" on the road theories and practical. after the course, my suspension period MAY be reduced to 4 weeks. after which I have to conduct myself properly and not get 12 demerits for 12 months, twice (meaning a probation of 2 years of 12 points each), before I can have my suspension record wiped off and become 24/24 again.
the course covers some theories which is a bit like basic and final theory but heavily condensed and the emphasis is of course, the common traffic rules people flout. there's even a 20 MCQ test which is really easy for anyone with more than half a brain.
the practical driving is pointless but mandatory. I even told the instructor, all of us here not because we want to learn driving. but we are here because we broke the rules and were caught for them. to which he just smiled because he knows what I'm talking about.
I think the main punishment would be the inconvenience of it all. having 1 sunday burnt just to do this. at $75 too, on top of those fines already paid. not to mention serving that 4 weeks.
I have learnt my lesson. just don't know how to break this news to my employer aka father-in-law.

22 days into the month, an sms with just "can re verify xxxx?". then came threats and saying that all blow jobs to be given out to relevant authorities.

shooters!
although I consider myself a strategy games (real-time or turned-based alike) junkie, I would play the occasional shooter, if its hyped up enough.
of course I have played some of the famous ones like doom, quake, unreal, half life and by extension, counterstrike. my all time favs would be quake 3 and unreal tournament. the last completed one was borderlands and now playing half life 2 from the orange box package.
quarter way thru and so far its fun with the air boat to pump up adrenaline and mowing down zombies with the gravity gun etc.
but. I kinda missed the borderlands mindless fragging. the best part for me about these shooters is not the fantastic story which half life 1 and 2 have, but the fact that I can shoot enemies with an array of weapons even though its virtual.
of course I would finish up the game (and hence the story) not just for the sake but to really have a bit of zombie fun. while waiting for the terrans to arrive and frag zergs and protoss in the starcraft universe. yum!

am I on some sort of crack?
as in some sort of drug that is caffeinated? I haven't drank too much coffee today and yet I'm still up and about despite not sleeping much the last 2 days.
I wonder why and really hope I won't feel too sleepy this whole week.
I wonder why and really hope I won't feel too sleepy this whole week.
and spain is the new world cup champs!
can't help feeling sad for the oranje tho because both side fought equally hard.
a match full of vicious tackles and fouls (as a result, more yellow cards than corners), and tons of missed chances, this game was watched by millions of fans and punters worldwide.
some to see which of them will finally dirty their hands on the cup. some others to see if paul was right (and he is! albeit in extra time). and the remaining just to soak in the once every 4 years sports fiesta.
and now back to sleeping properly. *yawn*

the worst birthday eve, ever!
1st the whole day clouds and rain dampened the outdoor plans. then, the dinner wasn't good and the usual safe favourite (satay) was relatively uncooked. please don't let us have late night toilet runs....
lastly, the albicelestes are kicked out of the world cup embarrassingly by the germans with not a single reply to the 4 goals.
but it's ok. messi & co will be back with a vengeance in brazil.
happy independence day america.

the cruel game that is called football
while parts of the world are still "shocked" by the brazilian exit from the world cup last night, the rest of the footballing world are more shocked at the hand of suarez that indirectly allowed uruguay to progress further in the tournament, setting up an odds-wise david vs goliath between holland and uruguay.
of course we all know that david was the victor in the story but will uruguay do what their "stronger" south american brethren couldn't? why didn't the referee award that goal anyway? why couldn't gyan suck it up and convert?
football, more drama than korean sobs.

2010 is the year of
football experts. or soccer if your americanism pleases.
every 4 years, the spirit of football analysis roam the earth and bless every one from ages 10+ with "brains of football". suddenly the jargons like goalkicks, offside and handballs become punctuations in our everyday conversations.
"siao eh! drive proply leh! u offside liao leh!"
"what? goalkick? corner leh! I should gokick the linesman nuts and handball his face!!!!"
and speaking of which, the facebook is suddenly filled with experts churning out wc related statuses faster than jabulanis can fly off the crossbars. even the vuvuzelas can't buzz off as quickly and as annoying.
"SOCCER EXPERT thinks that england should have won that match. I can referee better."
OR
"ANOTHER EXPERT thinks the game between country 1 and country 2 was so boring its painful. almost like a 24hr pricey convenience store against an asian bank."
don't worry I don't get it either. facebook need to yellow card these.

woeful refereeing
its only half way through the round of 16 in the world cup and quite a number of bad refereeing can be seen.
last night alone saw 2 of the worst ever in this tournament. and fifa still not willing to introduce tech to help the err which is human, so to speak. I can understand that still having that human touch is important but the refereeing body need some serious shake up.
but hey, got argentina through the quarter finals. poor england tho.

argentina go!!!!
argentina 4 and 1 for south korea, the other grp B favourite. what a great match. only flaw would be that messi and tevez didn't score any of them.
and also that I don't have an argentina jersey to cheer them on.
go argentina!!!!

new phone?
singapore has just started on the iphone craze and apple's new rumoured 4G edition is on the horizon, and iPad global fever hasn't even started to cool yet.
but people are starting to look at android. with a substantial number of users willing to say, "physical keyboard pwns virtual ones", iphone stronghold on the market suddenly seems not that strong anymore. and unless jobs come up with a quick geeky cool overhaul of the phone, android phones might just start take over.
cool's factor gone. apps getting homebrew crappy. and if I want a phone with apps, why not something else that behaves more a phone than a device that tries to be all but just can't or not even allowed to?
me? my heart is ready to jump but my wallet says NO!

nice to have friends
yeah its always nice to have friends. this way you won't be a lonely as God intended.
ever since I paid SGD$50 for that season 10 of friends tv series, life for me and wifey have been fairly regularly, 4-5pm back home with takeaways, 2-3 episodes of dvd friends.
its probably an unhealthy and unproductive routine but I'm definitely enjoying time like this!

liver who?
it was the 2nd to the last match of this football season and the BPL title is on the line. the matchup? a mouth-watering liverpool vs chelsea. for the previous season, this would have been like the top of the table clash. and I bet when the english FA planned this fixture they might have been thinking, perhaps this liverpool vs chelsea match would be a crucial match for both teams.
they got it half right. chelsea was fighting for the title. liverpool was more like fighting not to be humiliated too much. been an abysmal season for them and while most will blame the americanism (the owners) at the management, others would see the spanish connection (benitez) as the weak link.
whoever it should be, much buzz was around the match last night. would liverpool roll over to prevent Man U take an unprecedented 4th consecutive and record 19th BPL title? or would they be professionals and make chelsea sweat for it?
then came the 1st goal of the match. gifted by captain liverpool himself steven gerrard. but hey it seemed like a genuine mistake and only the nerves should be blamed. however that goal really tilt the scales towards chelsea's favour and the game was safely tucked away 3 points to chelsea.
of course the whole liverpool team looked lifeless and at times, school boy-ish. but the biggest crime they committed? 3 chinese characters.

I lost my respect for this red team.

run
after almost a month of small jogs around the neighbourhood, its fair to say I'm enjoying it.
its nice to get the pulse up and the blood flowing. I feel energized.
for now, not much statistical change (aka weight loss) but I do feel lighter (psychological?) and clothes seem looser.
enjoyed the time with wifey when she comes along for those runs. good quality time together even if we don't really talk too much.
aiming to do this even more frequently till my reservist training end of next month and hopefully for the rest of the year, into the rest of my life.
finally getting something going for this resolution. now for spiritual growth.

never!!
is my reply to today's TNP front page line "when will they learn?". which is good for boys who like these amateurish porn/soft porn readily available on the internet.
with the invention of digital cams more than 10 years ago, everyone and their dogs are photographers. even if you can't afford a dumb compact, you can easily pose it up in front of your super 10MP camera-phone-swiss-knife-etcs.
point is home made videos are a lot more common now. and in this me-so-pretty age, you gonna have loads of dumb girls from the age of 12 to 42 with no discretion, taking nudes of themselves for self admiration. or to share with whoever they think deserves.
what these low fauna forms don't realise is, internet is powerful and scary. even after reading so many examples of leaked embarrassments, they are still defiant thinking delusionally from "it won't happen to me" to "I want horny boys to fantasize about me".
and no you can't quite sue the internet. by even having these pics and posting them online, you have agreed to the privacy (lack of) disclaimers.
start growing brains.

does bolo santosi sounds singaporean?
you bet she does, creepily. since yesterday's newspapers reports of this (somewhat embarrassing) voice of a character in a fairly popular video game Just Cause 2, the fan boys and critics in singapore have been cyberspace commenting.
1st, from a singaporean's point of view, it sounds real and irene ang, but you can tell at some parts its very deliberate. in local slang, "gek" out one. and its not irene ang. its by a brit who is suppose to have some links to singapore but the netizens are still debating.
2nd, it's a US game. why not choose german or russian accent? or hong kong accented english if you want an asian?
3rd, how fast will this comedic feature last for singaporeans? I mean, will this one beat ris low's attention whoring antics?
4th and finally, no I'm not going to try that game out. too busy trying to beat jasmine and her steel type pokemons.

how to train your pokemon
caught the latest animation "how to train your dragon" on the big screen. always a fan of animation and its definitely a good thing pixar and dreamworks keep trying to outgun each other in this area. disney are you watching?
been such a long while since we went to the movies. so long that this trip to the cinema seems like a vacation overseas. no, really its that long. anyway, great movie. once again dreamworks managed to unite reality (social pressure in this case) and fantasy (dragons). although relatively predictable story, its still heart warming and fun enough watch.
and so how fares my pokemons? well, the pedometer proves to be pretty accurate and its actually a motivation for me to go for walks or even jogs. so I haven't quite progress too far into the main game due to commitments and stuffs. but this device can really help me train (level up) those pokemons. kinda cool.
I use to just sit down for hours just to get my gyarados to level uber but leaves no time for the others. now I have to literally think "now which pokemon should I walk today?".
great!

selling my soul to monsters for SGD$65
gyarados. bulbasaur. mew. pikachu. pokemons. now into their so-called 4th generation with heartgold and soulsilver edition, remakes of the GBC versions aka 2nd generation.
I'm not a huge fan of pokemon to be honest but I have faithfully followed the videogames side of the franchise and have even played at least 1 game from each of the first 3 generations. I held out quite long (3 years or so) on the 4th not because I am purposely waiting for these remakes. I was on other games and franchises. then the news of the remakes broke abt 2 years ago with even more "revolutionary" game designs on them, made me drooled like a school boy again.
pokemon is a good series, even for serious RPG gamers. the jap dudes at gamefreak really know how to design a game cute enough for young children, deep enough for teens and engaging enough for adults. for someone who hardcored WOW for a period of time, this is quite something.
this latest offering has larger list of pokemons to "catch them all!", updated graphics and rearranged music scores for the new hardware, more hero-pokemon interaction activities, and ... a pedometer that makes your pokemon happier with more steps you take! imagine tamagochi that thrives on you bringing it out for walks.
with all these goodness, decently priced at SGD$65, I have decided to once again join the millions of pokemon fanboys (really there are no pokemon girl fans, especially in sg) and try to "catch them all!".

phoney dilemma
for a while now since the beginning of 2010, been wondering if iphone is still good for my usage. sub par voice and poor battery life (compared to conventional phones). I don't really play games on it anymore and I don't surf as much on the road simply coz I cannot afford that time.
and as 15th Apr (wifey telcom recontract date) draws closer, question of whether to continue with my romance with iphone becomes pressing. should I switch my diet from apple (iphone) to (black)berry, or eat european (nokia) or even asian (samsung).
we are spoilt for choices.

because of jack neo ...
... we had comedy nights.
... we had some hilarious albeit exaggerated "local reality" movies.
... we now know that even super film directors are human. or inhuman according to a victim.
... we now know what's a City Harvest Church.
... we have piles of newspaper waiting for gurung guni.
thanks jack, ass.

challenging the internet
so I put my personal life on the internet via facebook, twitter, blogs etc to share with my friends by giving out the URL in standard unicode.
I have absolutely no idea that millions of strangers possibly in all ages from anywhere imaginable at all, would be able to chance on them and start making nervously vulgar comments on my tagboard which I made available voluntarily.
angered and embarrassed, I threatened to report this to the local law enforcement agency to which I have absolutely no contribution to yet because I am still underaged but I know they would be there for me just by virtue of being.
I then type out lines of threats such as "police report made" and dare the perpetrators to leave their names even though I know that's impossible. I continued by vowing to focus on shutting down their popular internet sites.
I then engage "hackers" to trace their IPs and contact the respective ISP to reveal their information even though they have not breached any law other than harassment on a space not governed by pretty much anyone or anything.
did I win?

year of the tiger
happy lunar new tiger year! after watching so many lol-tune tellers saying things like "you should wear red more often even during funerals. and always wipe your ass after going to the toilet even if you were just washing hands.", here's my prediction after consulting my plate of the Supreme Heaven Twirling Bee Hoon.
for those born in the year of ...
Rat
not a good year for you. in fact not a good year every year coz you are just a stinky drain-dwelling nocturnal which are treated as pests. or if you are lucky, you be featured as mutated hairy squeaks which drops useless junks in most video games.
Ox
ever since global warming has become a world issue, you bulls have a dog's life. they are blaming your flatulences as a major contributing factor and I know for sure 2 guys named ben and jerry gonna try some needle research up your udders so as to reduce some of that. stop mooing and start roaring already in this stupid cat year.
Tiger
after a year of bull (shit), it's now your turn. to do what? run for your lives idiots. rich dudes all over the world are like decorating their houses with your lice-laden pelts and even a local mag featured a local celebrity draped in that stinky shit. there's no such thing as year of the tiger.
Rabbit
our dear PM is worried that singaporeans don't like feline children so they are like waiting for another year before doing it like rabbits. for now just lie low and use protection. and I don't mean guns.
Dragon
what? u prefer to have wings like your western brethrens? and those gay looking eyes? what the hell for? it doesn't matter coz you are going to get slain in all those video games in all the 2D and 3D glories anyway. but hey it won't be that bad coz people always say "got dragon got tiger". hope your stupid cat friend can look out for you.
Snake
no I don't want no damn apples from no tree of knowledge. it's mandarin orange season and you want to sell me apples? have a better marketing strat please.
Horse
if you are like me who watches those NatGeo and Animal Planet channels, you know that horses and tigers don't get along. stop horsing around and start kicking some hairy cat butts.
Goat
like the damn long faced horses, you better get your act together this year coz the tiger who is your boss in your office will not give you good grass but cat shit to paddle and wade through. start acting like the peons you are.
Monkey
"the tiger is your big brother this year". the year of the ox is already over and people are still sprouting bullshit. have you ever seen a tiger and a monkey hanging out? yeah maybe when you see a stupid-looking ang kong siao with a scrawny stupid-looking emo kid walking together along orchard road. hardly the matching pair. watch your back before he tears your pinkish butt a new reddish asshole.
Rooster
every year, people all over the world goes through tonnes of chicken parts bearing names like KFC and popeyes. popular yes. fortunate? not quite. start crowing your way out of the deep fryer.
Dog
if you are female, stop bitching and if you are a guy, tell that bitch to stop bitching. start pissing and dumping crap at the right place and do bark at your owner if they are not wiping your ass with kleenex.
Pig
I don't understand why on God's green earth would anyone want to say, "hey let's take away the pig so that our muslim brethrens would not be offended." R McD decided that would be the way to go but come on, it's 2010 and not 1010. people here don't care liao lah. as long as your burgers stop shrinking and your dumb toys look cute, these tropical drones will still queue up to throw money your way.
do you want me to start on the gemini tigress who was born at 4pm in the crowded KK hospital afternoon?

if you are female, stop bitching and if you are a guy, tell that bitch to stop bitching. start pissing and dumping crap at the right place and do bark at your owner if they are not wiping your ass with kleenex.

15 years
the other day, I was walking along this concrete path on my way home. then I witnessed what seemed like a 3 on 2 fight. it wasn't a gentlemen's duel or dance off those kinda thing. but more like teens who can't stand each other's tee shirt or something.
of coz I looked but didn't stay around for too long coz I can't wait to go home to my computer playing my favourite Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2.
oh wait, that was like 15 years ago. this piece of memory stuck on my head like glue on more glue. maybe coz its like one of the 1st fights among sissies I saw. or maybe it was just so.
The incident happened in Ngee Ann Poly and it was along this sheltered walkway I usually take to go home. fast forward 15 years today, the walkway is gone. half of what I can remember about the campus is not there anymore. the scenary is just so different that I no longer feel I was from ngee ann poly.
realization: things do move on and it's good for them and the students. the environment looks tons better. even the library entrance looks great and inviting. hahaha.
I just wish these funny and fond memories would stay with me for another 15. adulthood can suck bad sometimes.

world of warcraft, with guns
recently picked up a new game called borderlands. after about an hour's worth of game time with it, I have concluded that it's fun and I'm willing to sell more hours to it.
but what's the fun? it's something like world of warcraft actually. in the sense of quests, go here kill. go there talk. come here buy/sell. but with guns (a variety of) and in first person perspective, much like counterstrike and unreal (runs on unreal engine). and probably the best part about it is... yeap, no truck loads of 13yo too-much-time asian kids grieving you in the land of Azeroth.

promises
suddenly HDB and health ministry decided to cut some of the benefits to set citizens and PRs apart? even LKY came out to personally to say that they are going to "reduce FT intake".
so now the election coming? kinda too lil too late. frustrations have set in to become anger.

pool fools
been so long since we last swim and finally pushed ourselves today to go swimming again, in our efforts to keep healthy and hopefully, slim.
only 14 laps and I felt like I have done so much. kinda feels like I have failed my mini lose weight goals. just a week left to lose 2kg. seems kinda hard. I need to eat less and do more!

manchester derby
it was the semi-finals of carling cup and probably more imptly, the derby of the english north. the long rich football history of the reds vs the always-the-lesser-brother blues.
so the scoreline read 2-1 in favour to the blues. and the 2 were scored by former reds frontman carlos tevez. sweet revenge for both tevez and man city fc.
but to me the more amazing was, ryan giggs (of united) put the visitors in the lead 17 minutes into the match. ryan giggs, the guy who together with other man u big names like beckham, scholes and cantona, helped the club dominate the english premier football during much of the 90s.
while most of the rest from that era has faded out either into other areas of media (positive or negative) or other areas of the games (coaching), ryan giggs is very much alive and literally kicking around in the pitch, all 36 years of him. sure he is a professional and everything blah blah etc. but how many more 35+ year olds do u see in the pro league and still making waves? and please don't name me those goalies. lehman can go to hell with his whines.
not that he would be my role model or anything but I look at myself. I at 34+ would die from fatigue just climbing 11 flight of stairs. I need to shape up or really go 6 feet.

armchair learning
recently, I have upgraded my seat to a cushioned and armed chair courtesy of SJCK. bye, other-lesser-chair, I will miss you but now you have a lonelier-but-rightful place in the dining room with your brethrens. but that's aside the main point.
also recently, I have been reading alt- political and news sites and blogs. and what's so special about them compared to the main stream printed media? you might think that they are just as opinionated as another familiar paid printed local newspaper.
yes but you forgot to point out most people pay that kopi money to read the latest rant about how liverfools are failing this english football season. if you want the news that even our main news media won't cover, it's going to be the so-far-uncensored internet.
lots of disgruntled singaporeans scrutinizing every gov's move and actions = juicy as a bright ripely orange.
except that it might leave some sour taste coz you would realised that you made a bad mistake in 2006. unless of course you were politically insignificant (aka underage) then.
I am not saying I support these behind-monitors cushioned-chair journalists, but its sure good to have a different perspective of things and to be aware of the 'lesser' things the mainstream medias are diverting your attention from.

happy birthday to my ma
the week ended with a birthday celebration for my mum. happy a year older!
what a Sunday service today. thank You God for Your Word and I resolve to work harder at making my life right again in my spiritual walk and my physical being.
I felt in my spirit a prompting that IF (big I-F) I can learn to wait upon the LORD and take care of my physical health, God will show and push me to do great things.
not tough except that this 2 is the exact areas I have been having trouble with. although I recognised that even before this mornings spiritual revelation, I still haven't done anything much about it so far. not a good steward.
and so I have made a chart with quarterly goals that seems impossible. and they are, by 31st March ...
1) finish up to the Book of Acts in the new testament
2) lose 10kg
woah! better get down to it.

2010 week 1
relatively painless for me. except that every night went with nightmares. wifey attributes it to stress from work. perhaps but was it really? I don't know.
as of now I'm juggling work, plus some add-ons but nothing that would tip the scales. and the website development. doesn't help that I went to buy gta trilogy and borderlands on impulse. not regretting them but I'm not exactly spending time playing yet too.
dim joy! the dim sum place we went to on sat. very nice place with nice ambience. good for gatherings without blowing the budget. must try: char siew su and char siew bau. growing fat!
just wish I can be less lazy and get on with my physical conditioning (aka slimming) program. need to get into a healthier physique for june's beach getaway!
