Ending With A Start

22nd December 2012 9am (+8 UTC). Bright sunny morning with sounds of chirping. Put laundry into the washing machine and made myself a simple cup of coffee. Hey! The world is still here!

And of course it is. If you are going to base your apocalypse prediction on a civilization that could not foresee their own demise, be ready for disappointments. Or perhaps it did happen maybe not necessarily on 21st Dec itself.

I would like to see the "end of the world" not as a global event, but rather something more local or even personal.

Whenever doomsday discussion comes up, people will relate it to some global catastrophic event that will kill most if not all living organisms on this planet. Meteors, plague, alien attacks and of course zombies. But do we really need any of these to die?

Since December, America reported 2 shootings which killed several people. North Korea launched a "satellite", which according to experts means they have capabilities to launch long range attacks. These are as reported by American news media. There are also violent conflicts happening in the middle east over various excuses, mainly greed in my opinion.

And there are also common folks like me who will experience "end of the world" in another form. Passing of loved ones, news of terminal illness, lost of property. "I lost my iphone! My life is ruined!".

For the victims and their families of these conflicts and unfortunate events, its an "end of their world". But should it be the end of THE world? Be thankful that you are still physically alive. Time to end the past and start anew.

What better than starting a blog and writing the first post over a cup of coffee.

Laundry is done and so is this post.
