and people are still asking about the previous owners, who worked 44 years at this market. While there are some who give their 2 cents (sometimes a dollar) worth of criticism on our products, most of them have been very encouraging.
Please know that humans cannot last forever. "Uncle and Auntie" age and people move on. Give the successors a chance! I am not pleading just for myself but also all the others who are giving their best in the food industry. Which is not easy because aside from the manpower crunch suffered by the higher end businesses, people are quite picky when they are spoilt for choices.
No one wants to accept the harsh reality of inflation, and only the tastiest AND cheapest will survive scathing reviews and wagging tongues.
We have it easy already. No direct competitor, easy logistics and humane working hours with a decent profit. Some of the others are actually sleeping inside the albeit spacious stall.
I really hope people show more grace and compassion to hawkers. I am not asking that you actively sayang them, but stop throwing verbal faeces like a drunk hippie.
And yes, they are retired!!
