jitters

it'll be my 1st day of work on monday since 3 weeks ago and I'm actually feeling some jitters and butterflies in my stomach. and it's not due to the heavy food I ate for lunch and dinner.

not sure why but maybe it's coz I don't know what to expect at work. I wished my "highly competent" colleague would have been able to cover some of the things but I don't think so. my work phone had been full of life with smses indicating "problems" already.

maybe it's the interview I'm about the be having with the HR personnel regarding my termination of service with the company. don't know what kinda questions to expect.

or maybe it's just me.

disaster

I cooked dinner for princess and myself this evening and the best word to describe it is a simple, disastrous.

I was given 2 days to think abt what to do with 3 slabs of perfectly good aussie pork and, I decided to season it in sesame oil with a dash of soy sauce and pan fry the heck out of it. only thing is the heck didn't come out by the time I was done. and I made a mess too what with the oil splattering all over the stove and kitchen floor.

oh and I oven baked some frozen fries we got from the finest supermarket too.

the final result? bland pieces of meat with undercooked fries and loads of rice. good thing we had some chili and barbeque sauce. oh and a good pack of garlic bagel chips from the same finest supermarket. yummy chips! heh

no, I'm not giving up.

free

some things in life are just not free, no matter how they want you to think it is.

recently, I continued a subscription to a weekly news magazine. and on top of the usual subscriber's discount ($3 for a vendor $8), I would get a hardcover pictorial book (in colour) on the subject of Global Warming. and one of those shopping bags (not plastic, I hope) which you use in place of plastic ones when you go shopping. both items free with the subscription renewal.

or are they?

it was delivered by our postal service which I feel that should kinda revamp their way of doing things now. 1st, they like to deliver things during office hours. it's ok if anyone was to be at home but what are the chances now that both of us need to work just to be able to have 3 meals a day?

2nd, I requested for a morning delivery but they called at 1pm to tell me that they gonna be late.

totally not worth the aggravations but I will enjoy those things anyway.

not all things in life are free. but God's grace is. so I will be gracious this time around and let it pass. just have to tell myself not to jump at every freebie there is.
